We have holidays celebrating important aspects of our country, including two for our military. Yet the day we vote, arguably one of the most important aspects of being an American, is not much more than any other Tuesday in November.
A national holiday, similar to thanksgiving where the majority of Americans have the day off, allowing nearly every American to vote without worry of loss of employment, long lines, or other hurdles they currently face.
"Vote Day" would also teach our young people about the importance of participating in democracy, helping to drastically increase the voting rate.
Imagine a day where nearly everyone votes, then enjoys each ohers company and debate at parties, neighborhood bars and other get togethers, celebrating the beauty and power of American democracy.
