Representative democracy has failed our nation. Approval ratings for Congress and the Senate are at a significant low. I suggest legislation be passed creating a yearly special election for voters to vote for or against legislation passed by the Senate and Congress during the year. They would have a deadline each year to introduce approved legislation for the peoples final vote. The President would have the power to Veto a Bill before it is put to the public vote. Special interest lobbyists would no longer have the power to work against the interests of the people for their personal gain. Our Congress and Senate would no longer have the power to pass pay raises for themselves or to hold our nation hostage for partisan games. We are a great nation with the ability to work together
