Currently, the United States has several federal holidays honoring people who have stood up for the civil rights of the people. One example is Martin Luther King Jr.
The Native American peoples have endured genocide, oppression, and hardship since settlers from Europe first arrived on this continent. Settlers took Native lands, and destroyed Native peoples, climaxing in the Indian Wars of the 1860's. Crazy Horse was an Oglala Sioux who fought for the rights of his people to survive against a tyrannical government and genocide.
In addition to the "apology" issued by the white house, I ask that the Federal Government institute a holiday similar to Martin Luther King Jr. day to honor the efforts of Crazy Horse and his people
