In wake of this national tragedy, we can come through this as a stronger and better society. Our own selfish finger pointing and political rivarly has cost us the lives of 20 children and 6 educators. Now is the time to set our differences aside. The issues in the Newton massacre were not just the guns used, but the person who used them. Just as we have the Lautenberg Amendment to restrict those who have commited domestic violence, I propose a similiar version for those with mental health issues.
1. Any person taking meds or seeing a doctor for mental health related issues, be denied permission to purchase, own, transfer or handle any type of firearm.
2. Upon identification, law enforcement is allowed to immediately seize the firearms of those who attempt to circumvent policy.
