Decisions made by our elected officials are often swayed by lobbyists who frequently corrupt the aforementioned officials with "donations", "kick-backs" and bribery. Large corporations use this tactic to their advantage by hiring lobbyists to sway elected official's opinion on proposed laws that would benefit their corporations.
The job of our elected officials should be to represent the people. Corporations should not be permitted to use our officials as instruments to their own ends.
Enacting favorable laws by writing large checks may be the current "American way" but it shouldn't be.
