In January of 2014, 61 year old Patrick Buono “upskirted” a 13-year old girl while inside an Oregon Target. He recorded the incident on his cell, intentionally exposing her to capture intimate footage of the girl. Security surveillance was taken to court, and on February 5th, 2015, he was acquitted on all charges for this heinous act.
Oregon laws allow “upskirting”- the act of lifting one’s skirt to reveal their more intimate areas.. The message that these laws endorse is a dangerous one- that no one should expect privacy under their skirt, that the body of a young girl is merely public property. Closeted predators are taught that their actions are justified. No outfit is a solicitation for sexual misconduct, no minor should be sexualized and photographed for pleasure.
