We elect our government officials to represent us, both individually and holistically, to keep our best interests in mind when voting on particular issues. Allowing a corporation, a group of lobbyists, or any other entity to donate large amounts of money to any PAC, elected official, or anything else that can be used to persuade the official's opinion runs counter to the very reason we have a democracy.
Please provide a severe penalty, in line with bribery, for both the lobbyist and the official receiving lobby money for any interest, to ensure that the official is serving his constituents and not someone that is paying money for his votes.
