Crowdsource Additional Funds to Aid the SEC in Taking Violators to Court

Created by F.F. on June 21, 2013

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has a long-standing policy of settling with companies who have been found in violation of regulations and laws, and allowing them to avoid admitting any wrongdoing, so-called "neither admit nor deny" settlements. The SEC director has recently said she wants to revisit this policy, as reported here:

The reason for the policy has been the cost of taking these corporations to court. Many Americans are so disgusted with this practice, I believe they would be willing to directly contribute to stop it.

This petition proposes the US government set up a fund that members of the public can donate to directly, to back SEC in seeking conviction of major violators.
