Curb the abuse of consumer rights in foreclosure by banks who act without notification of owner/attempt to stop action

Created by M.N. on September 27, 2012

Enact legislation that curbs the rights of banks/financial institutions to covertly foreclose on property. Require that within 7 days of decision to foreclose property that the owner of the property/and or their legal representative be personnally contacted by the institution considering foreclosure. During that contact the property owner/representative to be given exact reason for foreclosrue and a good faith effort by the institution, prior to the institution of penalties, to resolve the reason for foreclosure must be made. In the absence of this contact, within a reasonable period, via telephone, face-to-face, or E-mail, or as designated by the owner at mortgage, forclosure will be halted for a period of 12 months during which time postal and other means of contact may be utilized.
