Curb the use of antibiotics in everyday products and food

Created by M.S. on March 29, 2015

Our antibiotics are failing us due to our abuse of them. It is hard to imagine a world where we can't rely on antibiotics, but this is what will happen if we can't reign in the overuse of antibiotics in our food, farming and cattle industries. It is easy to forget that only 80 years ago people could die from everyday infections because of lack of antibiotics - the superbugs we are breeding now are being strengthened through natural selection and our bombardment of the world around us with antibiotics.
Things like antibiotic soap and feeding antibiotics to cattle to overcompensate for the deplorable conditions that breed disease is the wrong way to approach the problem. Europe banned antibiotics in the cattle industry years ago for a reason - it is time the United States did too.
