Created by K.R. on April 20, 2016

Customers forced to use dealer service (not their trusted mechanic) due to a recall need protection from abusive dealerships.

1. Dealers may not charge for inspection, whether warranty issue found or not.

2. For any other repair recommendations dealer must provide detailed estimate; customer informed may use any other mechanic.

3. For repairs deemed necessary to fulfill a warranty-related recall at customer’s expense dealer:
a. Must provide written explanation and estimated cost of repair
b. Explain why warranty-related recall not a contributing factor
c. Allow a second opinion, estimate, and repair completed by any other mechanic of customer’s choice.

4. If dealer makes a false repair recommendation dealer now owns all required repairs to bring vehicle to a new condition.
