Cut an additional $60.2 million dollars from the Federal budget by ending the production of Pennies.

Created by M.P. on December 18, 2012

With the Federal Deficit still a problem in D.C, why not cut an additional 60.2 Million from the Federal budget by ending the production of pennies. Currently the manufacturing cost of a single penny has risen to 2.4 cents, so for every penny produced the government loses 1.4 cents in cost. Pennies would still remain in our economy, mainly in digital form (credit card exchanges and banking) but the physical form of a penny would slowly die out over time.
