Cut Congressional salaries down to the national average and increase years of service needed to draw a pension to 10 yrs

Created by N.P. on February 09, 2013

Congress has made it clear that they want to see harsh cuts in government spending. With an average salary of $175,000, Congress should begin their budget cuts by looking at themselves first. As of the last census, the average American family brought in just over $50,000 per year.

Congress plays an important role in the governance of our society, however an individual's job is no less important on the local scale than theirs are on a global one. Teachers, for example, earn far less and have a much greater impact on this country's future.

End excess spending by decreasing the over-payment of people who volunteered to lead the country. Some of our founding fathers did not want Congress to be paid at all.
