The US military budget for 2012 is projected to be between $1.030–$1.415 trillion dollars. Hundreds of billions of dollars of possible tax revenue are lost due to the bush era tax cuts to the top 10% of the income brackets. Large corporations pay very little, if any taxes.
If taxes were raised on corporations, the bush era tax cuts were ended and the military budget was cut we would no longer have a deficit. We would have a surplus that could be spent on meaningful things like schools, transportation, infrastructure and public healthcare. If 75% of the military budget were cut we would still have the largest budget in the world. Instead of tax revenue being lost up wall street's noses and bombing brown people we could actually help the people that the govenment is supposed to be serving.
