There is no good reason to keep our defense budget as high as it is during a fiscal crisis.
There is no reason that it should be immune to cuts as Congress targets both the wealthy & those less fortunate in our country to make up for irresponsible and unnecessary spending.
We have the most powerful military in the world. Reducing its budget by $100 billion does not create a security threat or negate that power by any standard of measurement. It would be a major step forward, toward being fiscally sound.
The wars are winding down, fear of economic collapse has not been quelled, and we are all becoming less trustful in our government's ability to govern itself successfully.
it's time to reel in the budget.
