This petition is in light of the new legislation trying to be passed by religious employers (with federal funding and contracts) that would allow them to discriminate against hiring LGBT.
This legislation came into existence with the recent law that allowed the Christian-based business "Hobby Lobby" to disallow women in their employ to have contraceptives covered through company-based health insurance.
Even though this new bill is not likely to pass, this petition and possible legislation will serve as a counter-action against it.
