Oil companies are currently some of the most profitable companies in the World. There is no reason why they continue to receive the large subsidies that they continue to benefit from year after year. These subsidies could be used to subsidize the quickly evolving renewable energy technologies, slowly help pay down the national debt, invest in our crumbling transportation or energy infrastructure, or as an investment into the dying education system.
This petition is a way for the citizens to say that enough is enough. Companies that consistently posting record breaking profits, no longer need the federal crutch, and it's time that that they're made to stand on their own, or at least with a lot less help than they've been given in the past.
