Those mentioned in this petition are independently wealthy prior to taking office. Those elected to public service should not be in it for the money or benefits and therefore do not deserve excessive pay above the median income across the United States. If lawmakers want more money, then the median income would have to raise as well. This provides incentive for creating jobs and national prosperity by making the country more business friendly.
Lifetime health care benefits are a drain on the budget and should be revoked. Benefits should only be allowed during the term each position is held and no longer. This includes pension benefits.
Government positions are a public service, not a way to get rich or in any way be set for life.
