Since our government doesn't seem to be opposed to corporations cutting our salaries and benefits in order to grow, I say we give them a taste of their own medicine. Since the nation is broke, as they say on a daily basis, I feel Congress should lose benefits and have their salaries cut so the nation can apply it towards the debt they created, lets call it a renegotiation of their contracts. The current salary for a member of congress is $174,000. They should have that reduced to $50,000 and lose their healthcare plans so that the money can be applied to the debt. If deficit reduction is what they want then shouldn't they have some skin in the game with the rest of us?
