Cut politicians pay rate, stop their salary after their term, disallow their control to give themselves raises.

Many political positions give a salary for life, such as the senate which holds their position for a few years. If ever there was a black hole that could be closed to destroy our dept it is this one. Their yearly salary for life in numbers is roughly (100 senators at $174,000 for life equals $17,400,000 per year for the first 100, every few years this number grows) plus imagine how many past senators still get a paycheck.
They need to be reminded that they work for the people, and it is the people that should handle when and if they obtain raises, these types of decissions should not be in their hands or in the hands of other government officials.
