On January 1st, 2013, there will be large tax hikes affecting EVERYONE in this nation unless our congress does something to prevent it.
Regular congressmen get paid $174,000 a year not to mention benefits.
House and Senate party leaders, whether minority or majority, get paid $193,400.
Finally, with a hard-to-live-on $223,500, is the Speaker of the House... Mr John Boehner.
Their salaries and health benefits should be cut substantially or withheld completely if they cannot come to an agreement by January 1. It is their civic duty to come to a solution to these types of problems, yet neither side can work with the other. In the real world, at real jobs you get fired for lack of productivity so I don't think this is asking too much. It won't solve our debt, but might light some fires.
