How dare our representatives tell us to prepare for hard times ahead when they will not feel the hardship of the people first hand. You can only talk about a "shared burden" if you are involved in it .Leaders are supposed to lead form the front and I expect this to be the case for the elected officials of a Democracy that recognizes that all men are created equal. With this petition we ask the President of the United States of America and all elected members of the Senate and Congress to do what is morally right and lead the People of our nation through these tough economic times by first cutting their salaries to $75,000 which is much more than the average income of an American Citizen.
