Public service workers and small business owners (especially new small business owners) face limited options with their income after paying their taxes.
Paying taxes is important to fund programs and services, without a doubt, but there are many public service professions that pay fairly low salaries. Social workers, police officers, and school teachers are some examples of people working in public services.
Small business owners face a disadvantage to large companies (such as Walmart) in terms of paying taxes. Large companies bring in higher income and more consumers than most small businesses. In that sense, large companies can pay taxes with more ease than small business owners, and still be able to have more options with their money.
