The TSA is an agency created during the Bush Administration in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. The budget for the TSA in 2011 was over $8 billion and employed over 58,000 individuals. Aviation Security represents 71% of the budget & 11% for Air Marshals. The remaining 19% was allocated for intelligence, threat assessment, security support & credentialing.
The TSA delays travel, violates basic privacy, are discriminating towards commercial passengers & the average salary for TSA employees is over $100,000.
All of the money needed to fund this organization comes out of the pockets of the American People & it has caused the prices of air travel to rise. Significant cuts need to be made. We can find better things to do with $4 billion. Cut the TSA 50%.
