Everyone agrees that the United States is currently in a very bad economic condition. In looking for a solution to the Fiscal Cliff, stop the apparent focus only on "raising taxes on the wealthy". Unnecessary spending by the federal government MUST ALSO be reduced, just as any individual or business would be forced to do. Examples of unnecessary spending would include, but not be limited to:
- agricultural subsidies where not needed
- financial stimulus of "pet projects"
- inefficient procurement by multiple federal agencies instead of combining purchases
- expensive vacations for president and vice-president
- "free stuff" to able-bodied people who refuse to work
