With the recent killing of 18 Egyptians marking the anniversary of the democratic Tahrir Square revolution, we are reminded that the al-Sisi military dictatorship in Egypt has become as repressive and despotic as the Mubarak regime. Continued US support for al-Sisi regime is unacceptable and unconscionable.
President Obama must severely curtail US aid to Egypt to press the al-Sisi regime to respect human rights and move to democracy. The US is slated to provide Egypt with $1.5 billion in military and economic aid in 2015.
