We are facing a very divisive time in our country. What we see is one side pointing fingers at another, politicians conspiring at another, scandals, violence in schools, and disagreements like we have never seen before. I would like to petition for a day once a year that we can celebrate that we as a people stand together more than we do apart, no matter what is happening. A day of unity, not to honor our veterans, not to honor our civil rights leaders, not to honor our presidents, or our independence, but a day to honor the strength of staying united as a people. I recognize it's not 1986 anymore, but it would be great to see us as a nation have the courage and humility to hold hands across America. Right now our institutions need the help of the people to strengthen our nation.
