CHILDREN -While adults are also affected by the time change—insert yawn here—the effect on CHILDREN is more pronounced. Children thrive on routine. Changing from DST means children wake up an hour earlier and are ready for bed before they've eaten dinner. By the time you've fought to re-establish a routine, BAM, the time changes again. Working parents, forget about playing outside; it’s dark when you get home.
SAFETY -Gaining an extra hour of daylight in the a.m. means leaving work in the dark. Also, studies have shown that more traffic accidents occur in the 3 week period after DST ends, especially pedestrian deaths.
ECONOMY -Holiday shopping in the dark, people.
S.A.D. -Seasonal Affective Disorder is exacerbated by the shift from DST. I'm sad too.
