Since its creation, the TSA has proven itself to be the perfect example of what every federal agency should NOT do. Wasteful spending on ineffective and useless equipment; questionable procurement practices; countless incidents of abuse of their position towards passengers; heavy and stifling bureaucracy, lack of employee accountability; inconsistent screening procedures and outright sexual assault all support de-funding the TSA and allowing airlines to provide their own airport security.
The current budget of the TSA is 91 billion dollars, or about 10% of the defect. Nearly 70% of weapons make it past TSA screeners. We spend more than double on the TSA than we do clean energy. It is time to cut the spending, where it is wasted the most.
