The Dead Beat Congress Amendment of 2013

This petition calls for an amendment to the constitution that considers Congress essential personnel during government shutdown. I propose that the U.S. Congress should not be paid, but rather go into a back room and compromise. If they fail to compromise, they will not get paid. If they are not governing for and by the people, they should not get a pay check for doing nothing. Everyday people can't get a paycheck from their employers if they don't work. If the people must suffer, so should the leaders. Therefore I submit the constitution be amended that during a shutdown, congress is only essential if they are compromising. If they walk out on the job they are paid to do, they void their pay. These meetings also must be deemed productive. Compromise means to find agreement.
