Dear Mr. President,
Thank you for your recent efforts to reduce wage gaps in the private sector due to race and/or gender.
I would request that your Administration set an example for the private sector and and work with the federal agencies to reduce wage gaps within the U.S. Government.
For instance, I am a non-Caucasian female working at the US Dept of State. I earn $16,000 dollars less than my colleague who is a Caucasian female. We both started the same day, same position, same office, same city over 5 years ago.
There is no way for me to receive salary adjustment or request back pay. I haven't asked HR or Office of Civil Rights because it's unclear who can take action and keep confidentiality.
