The concentration of power in Washington D.C isolates our representatives from the people they represent and allows easy, low cost access to our Senators and Congressmen by special interest and lobbying groups while reducing the effective participation of our representatives to less than 3 days of operation per week.
I propose we decentralize Congress and utilize local offices in each representatives district to allow the day to day operations of both the senate and congress via teleconferencing.
This will:
Reduce the cost of travel by members of congress.
Increase the number of days of operation from less than 3 days per week to 5.
Make representatives more responsive to the electorate.
Reduce the influence and increase the cost of lobbying by special interest groups.
