When a power plant generates electricity, up to 70% of that energy is wasted, used up by the electrical resistance of the very wires it is traveling down.
When you generate green power for your home it saves the production of much more than you use at the power plant. Ironically, since you must sell the power to the power plant, they wind up making a good profit reselling your power to your neighbors.
I propose that a new home mortgage program be rolled out that provides for the high efficiency retrofit of existing homes, complete with green power options. This will create jobs, help consumers lower expenses, and help the environment through reduced fossil fuel use in the production of electricity.
