To declare the 3rd Sunday of January to be the offically designated day for the NFL Superbowl to be held, unless in some year the 3rd Sunday would follow the 3rd Monday (in which case the 2nd Sunday would be Super Bowl Day).
As the 3rd Monday of every January is a federal holiday, this would eliminate the wide spread lateness and/or absenteeism in the workplace following Super Bowl Sunday. It would encourage people to take greater interest in MLK day both in a reflective way and to take advantage of those great sales.
It would also encourage the NFL to make the half-time show incorporate the history, imagary and importance of Martin Luther King to the world-wide audience.
