Declare April 9 a national holiday in honor of the surrender of Gen. Robert E. Lee to Gen. Ulysees S. Grant

Created by R.S. on March 01, 2013

On April 9 Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant at Appomatox Courthouse, Virgina. I believe this should be a national holiday as this effectively ended a bloody period in American History. This would be a day to honor the brave men who lost their lives to preserve the unity of this great nation.
