We the undersigned ask that August 17 be declared National Phineas and Ferb Day.
Since its television debut on August 17, 2007, the animated series "Phineas and Ferb", created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh, has represented many things, from resilience (Povenmire and Marsh struggled for 17 years before the Disney Channel greenlighted it) to creativity. The adventures of two active, imaginative step-brothers and their family, as well as their pet platypus Perry, has won an Emmy, inspired a feature-length film, and found a place in the hearts of viewers around the world. As a work of art, it represents the American dream, it being a finely woven tapestry of post-oil-shock, relatively immobile suburban life.
This being the reason why the undersigned ask for a Phineas and Ferb Day.
