Marching Band has always been beaten on by non-supporters of the arts. From food being thrown at the marchers at halftime to bullying in the halls because we're 'geeky' for having an excellent talent. We are highly underestimated considering that being active in the arts has been proven by many studies to help students perform better in classrooms outside of music and band. This day is in the hight of marching band season, and it should be set aside for other students and adults all over America to recognize all of the sweat and pain we go though just to look good on that halftime field. Music isn't just about expressing yourself, it's about becoming one with the music and gaining something that otherwise would have been absent without the arts.
