Every week, dozens of children commit suicide due to bullying from their peers. School is supposed to be a safe haven, but our students are being preached to hate through media and modern influences.
As citizens of the United States of America and human beings, we are granted three unalienable rights under the Declaration of Independence: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. When a student is bullied, they are denied their right live and pursuit happiness.
Additionally, bullies often target a person for a specific reason, which is discrimination. Discrimination is illegal for federal and state laws, so why should it be legal for American citizens?
Hate speech is not protected under free speech, which bullying is always composed of hate speech. Bullying is obviously a hate crime.
