It being well known that mental illness knows no occupational or demographic boundaries, we the people hereby petition the administration to declare all buildings and facilities associated with the Congress and the Whitehouse to be "Gun-Free Zones." Our system of government can be easily disrupted by one armed gunman suffering from mental illness, and the safety of our elected officials should come first and foremost. Since it is possible that any armed guard, policeman, or personal body guard of our elected officials might at any time develop or act upon mental illness, immediate action should be taken to disarm these individuals while in the presence of our elected officials and declare any faciliy of the Congress and Whitehouse to be "Gun-Free."
