Declare the day on which Major League Baseball holds its seasonal “Opening Day” to be a National Holiday

Tracing back 240 years, baseball's start coincided the American Revolution, inevitably becoming cultural soul mates. American explores, Lewis & Clark, played baseball with Native Americans. American poet, Walt Whitman, saw baseball as healthy for Americans usually stuck inside. Baseball was played on fields between battles during the Civil War. American staples like the hot dog & salted peanuts were made for the ballpark. Playing the national anthem before a game began on the diamond. Baseball integrated 7 years before schools & 17 years before civil rights. Since 1910, every American President has thrown out the "first pitch" on Opening Day or in a World Series. Not just our "favorite pastime", baseball is our greatest vehicle for American progress. Make Opening Day a National Holiday!!!!
