There's no avoiding it - we all live on the same planet (though a few are in orbit around it, on occasion). There are federal holidays celebrating people long dead, but nothing celebrating our planet. Let's declare Earth Day a federal holiday, celebrate the planet we live on - whether we're trying to save the forests or extract gas from beneath them - and also end the federal holiday drought between Presidents' Day and Memorial Day.
