Declare Election Day a federal holiday and to move it to the 1st Saturday in November.

Created by S.K. on May 08, 2013

in order to expand the most basic of American rights to more citizens, two things ought to be done. First, Election Day should be moved from its current date (the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November) to the first Saturday after the first Monday of November. Sunday could work as well if Saturday is objectionable.
Second, Election Day should be declared a federal holiday, much like Thanksgiving or Labor Day. In these two ways, people who otherwise would be unable to make it to the polls due to work could now go and cast their votes. it would help to better amplify the true voice of the American people.
