By declaring Election Day a national holiday, more people would be able to get to the polls throughout the day, and there would be a reduced likelihood of there being lines of people still waiting to vote at the end of Election Day. Such a holiday would inspire greater pride in people to vote in elections, as well as being an overall celebration of the electoral process.
