A functioning democracy requires participation from all of its citizens. As it stands now the electoral process does not represent the entire population but only the will of the citizens fortunate enough to be able to take a day off of work. The working class can not afford to take a day off and participate in the election process. Politicians on both sides of the aisle claim to champion the peoples best interests. If this is true, then they should facilitate democracy where ever they can. Giving the citizens of this great nation every opportunity to vote will prove their resolve. We as a society plead that our democracy represent the will of the people not only the few with means.
