Declare Election Day a national holiday to enable more people to exercise their right to vote.

Created by H.B. on February 05, 2013

As citizens of the United States, we are blessed with the right to vote in democratic elections. Yet many members of the population are not able to exercise that right due to the responsibilities of employment.

We ask that Election Day be designated at national civic holiday in order give citizens the time to participate in the process and reflect on the patriotic aspects of the day, much as we do with Independence Day, Veteran's Day, and Memorial Day.

Election Day is already a state holiday in eight states so it is not unprecedented.
