Declare Election Day a national holiday to end the disenfranchisment of the impoverished.

Many impoverished people are unable to take the time out of their day to vote in elections due to the neccessity of working for survival, and the fact that they have to live paycheck to paycheck. This means that many low-income individuals cannot take the time off from their occupation to vote. For example, according to a study by the US Census Bureau, the voting turnout for individuals with incomes under $10,000 during the 2008 election was 41.3%, almost twenty percent less than the total average of 59.7%. In the spirit of democracy, we must not allow the voices of the lower class to go silent and ensure that their opinions are as well considered as everyone else's.
