Declare English to be the Official Language of the United States. So far in the United States, English is a national language only in an informal sense, by historical and contemporary association. The Constitution is written in English, as is all federal legislation.
Multiple bills declaring English to be the official language of the US have been introduced in the House and Senate, but have failed to become law.
It is an embarrassment that while many smaller/less technologically evolved countries have official languages, the sovereign US has failed to recognize the proper importance of the de facto and de jure use of English.
Declaring English as the Official language does not mean that minority and regional languages cannot be used, but English will have legal status.
