Declare English the Official Language of the United States

Created by T.P. on November 14, 2012

Currently 31 states recognize English as an official language. Most Americans already speak English fluently. Further, a May 2010 Rasmussen Reports survey found that 87% of Americans believe that English should be the official language of the United States. By declaring English the official language of the United States the President would be promoting national unity and assisting immigrants' assimilation by encouraging and empowering them to learn the official language.
