It is important to preserve the role of the English language in the United States and make it the official language of the people and of the government, thereby encouraging immigrants to learn English. By making English the official language of the United States, ineffective multilingual policies would be eliminated and every child would be given the opportunity to learn English. Furthermore, all business owners and their employees and state agencies and their employees would conduct official business solely in English and would then do away with bilingual state forms. By not accommodating non-English speakers, an incentive is given to these individuals to learn English and thus become more assimilated into society.
