Recognize that a tax above and beyond normal state sales taxes on firearms would be inherently unconstitutional. Such a tax would be nothing other than a thinly veiled attempt to limit the ability of people to exercise their right guaranteed by the 2nd amendment. This was unacceptable with poll taxes and voting, and would be just as unconscionable as taxing our other rights. It would never be acceptable to have to pay a tax to express freedom of speech, or pay a tax to practice your religion. Constitutional rights can not be incrementally infringed upon or selectively limited.
